Affiliate Disclosure

Affiliate disclosure — how this site makes money

Smarter With Agents is free to read. Running it — testing accounts, paid plans, hosting, and the hours it takes to re-check guides every month — costs money. This page explains exactly how the site earns it, in plain English.

Advertising

Most of the site’s income comes from display advertising (Google AdSense). Ads are served by Google, not chosen by us, and seeing an ad on a page doesn’t mean we recommend that product.

Affiliate links

Some links to tools and services are affiliate links. If you click one and buy or sign up, the company may pay us a commission — at no extra cost to you (you pay the same price, and sometimes a link carries a reader discount instead).

Three rules govern every affiliate link on this site:

  1. Tested first. We only use affiliate links for tools we have genuinely tested for a relevant guide or comparison. If we haven’t used it, we don’t earn from it.
  2. Results are never for sale. A commission never changes a test result, a ranking in a comparison, or what we say about a plan being worth the money. Several of the products we write about most — including Muse, which has no public affiliate program — pay us nothing at all.
  3. Marked where it matters. Pages containing affiliate links are covered by this disclosure, and comparisons state when links on the page are affiliate links.

What this means for you

You can trust a recommendation here the same way you’d trust one from a friend who happens to get a thank-you from the shop: the recommendation has to be real first, or the whole site stops working. If you ever think a recommendation doesn’t hold up, tell us via the Contact page — and read How We Test to see the standard every recommendation has to pass.
